The Numbers Game – IABC Gold Quill 2019

With Awards Night just a few days away, here are a few fast facts about the IABC Gold Quills #IABCGQ and Media Wise Communications, Inc. – through the numbers!

4,451 – Projects entered in the Gold Quill Awards since 2008.

  • The Gold Quill Awards is a program that honors those who have shown dedication, innovation, and passion in the field of communication for over 40 years.

202 – Total number of winners for 2019.

  • Over the years, entries from all over the world continue to show the evolution of the communication profession through their work, and it only challenges everyone to improve the next year.

10 – The number of winning countries for the Gold Quills in 2019.

  • Because the Gold Quills are a global competition, entries come from different parts of the world. The countries with the most entries from 2018 include the USA and Canada, with both countries having more than 200 entries last year alone.

7 – The full number of points an entry can obtain.

  • Winning entries are sorted into two groups: Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence. To qualify for a merit award, an entry must score at least a 5.25 out of 7, and a 5.75 to qualify for an excellence award. All entries are rigorously evaluated against established criteria that is aligned with IABC’s global standards in communication.

5 – The number of 2019 Gold Quill awardees from the Philippines.

  • Media Wise Communications, Inc. is one of five winning entries from the Philippines, joining Aboitiz Group, ABS-CBN Corporation, Center for Health Solutions and Innovations Philippines, Inc.and PageOne, Jollibee Foods Corporation and Stratworks, Inc.

2 –  The total number of Gold Quills won by Media Wise Communications, Inc.

  • Before this year’s win with On the March: The Jesuits in the Philippines Since the Restoration, Media Wise took home their first Gold Quill in 2017 with another Jesuit-centered book, Jesuits in Mindanao: The Mission. Both books won Awards of Merit in the Publications category under the Communication Skills division.
